Elevated levels of VOCs in solid matrices like soil, sediment and waste or in living organisms, Biota, is a result of human and/or industrial activity. VOCs are defined as compounds with a high vapor pressure and low water solubility.
Please contact us for local recommendations on how to sample and ship your samples.
Analysis of VOCs in all solid matrices is a standard offering from our accredited laboratories. Our laboratories have the capacity to take on large projects and the experience and skill to analyze for more non-standard or emerging compounds.
Biota testing is a specialty developed in some of our network laboratories and will include metabolites where appropriate.
The analysis of standard petroleum related compounds (or halogenated solvents) are performed in accordance with EPA method 8260 or similar, using headspace or purge and trap GC-MS.
Other compound will require other methods and instrumentation; all part of ALS' capabilities.
