Sights are set high for ALS’ Inspection business as its name changes to Assay & Inspection
For decades, commodities clients have relied on global testing leader ALS’ Inspection services for much more than inspection: from sample processing to report generation, ALS provides a wide variety of analytical services. The decision to rename the Inspection business ‘Assay & Inspection’ reflects how the business more broadly serves its clients, but also how it aims to expand its service capabilities globally, aligned with ALS’ refreshed strategic growth plans.
In growing this leadership position, the Assay & Inspection business aims to become the most consistent and reliable service provider in the industry.
“Consistency is critically important,” explains the business’s new general manager Clinton Hall. “Especially in the commodity trade business. As a world leader in analytical testing, our consistency and reliability are the strengths that enable us to become a reliable partner for our clients.”
To deliver even greater consistency, ALS plans to establish more Assay & Inspection services in locations where clients ship, implement advanced technology solutions like automation and digital platforms globally, and provide more autonomy for regional innovation.
Recent advances at the company’s Assay & Inspection operations in Chile serve as an example of how empowering regional teams and implementing digital solutions is driving success. The Chilean team developed effective bespoke cloud storage solutions and applications in partnership with key clients.
Collaborating with clients in this way – ensuring they have the precise services they need to become more efficient – is the foundation upon which the business plans to build and strengthen its partnerships.
Further supporting these efforts, ALS plans to enhance capabilities and innovation in its Assay & Inspection laboratory operations. The company operates one of the strongest umpire labs in the world and is already well equipped to handle and deliver consistent service for large numbers of samples. The business has plans to expand its lab services worldwide and introduce more automation technologies to its labs to further drive consistency.
